MUBIL, the Gipuzkoa electromobility centre, presented yesterday in Tolosa

Energy Storage

CIDETEC ENERGY STORAGE will manage the advanced energy storage laboratory, financing part of the project.

As one of Gipuzkoa’s strategic projects, it is aimed at turning this centre into a pole of innovation and knowledge linked to electromobility while placing the region at the industrial forefront in electric mobility and energy storage at an international level.

As explained by its director, Ane Insausti, MUBIL will work in four directions: a strong technological infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship, generating and managing knowledge, and turning Gipuzkoa into a living lab through experimentation.

The centre will be put into operation before the end of the year and of the 2,300 square meters which make up the building, 1,400 will be dedicated to the advanced energy storage laboratory, which will be managed by Cidetec. As explained by Javier Rodríguez, its general manager, it will have state-of-the-art equipment at European level, for example, with a vibrating table, where “all the companies in the region will have the option to try out and test their prototypes and products.”

Investment in the laboratory will amount to 8 million euros, partly financed by Cidetec, which will also provide all the technological equipment necessary for the development of improvements in cells and batteries for future electric mobility.

Together with Ane Insausti and Javier Rodríguez, also taking part in the event were the Regional Government Minister for Economic Promotion, Imanol Lasa, the Regional Government Minister for Strategic Projects, Ainhoa Aizpuru, the Mayor of Donostia, Eneko Goia, and the Mayor of Tolosa, Olatz Peon.
