Meeting to monitor LORCENIS Project held at CIDETEC

Surface Engineering

The regular meeting to monitor the LORCENIS Project was held at the installations of the Scientific and Technological Park of Gipuzkoa in San Sebastian from 19 to 21 September.

The encounter, held on completing the 18th month of project development, assembled a total of 45 professionals from the different entities in the consortium, with CIDETEC serving as host.

The meeting was particularly relevant since, apart from accounting for the project advances and specifying activities for the coming months in terms of research as well as the publication and exploitation of results, it was graced by the presence of the monitoring representative from the European Commission for this project, Aldina Santiago, who assessed its progress in positive terms.

The first physical meeting of the Advisory Board was held in parallel, increasing the scope of a significant milestone in the course of the project, since it will be halfway through by the spring of 2018.

LORCENIS is a project lasting 4 years, with a Budget of 7.9 million euro. Its objective is to develop long-lasting reinforced concrete for power installations.

The consortium is composed of entities from 8 countries, including 3 universities (National Technical U. of Athens, U. of Aveiro, Ghent U.), 6 technological centres (Sintef, HZG, CBI Betonginstitutet AB, CSIC, Fundación Agustin de Betancourt, CIDETEC), 5 large companies (ACCIONA Infraestructuras, Kvaerner Concrete Solutions AS, SIKA AG, Dyckerhoff GmbH, Vattenfall AB) and 2 SMEs (SMALLMATEK and ChemStream BVBA).
