A total of 75 European experts met on 23 and 24 February in Brussels on the occasion of two important events related to new materials and advanced battery technologies.
CIDETEC was brilliantly represented with outstanding presentations in both forums. The first was the “EMIRI Tech Talk – Batteries for Energy Storage (stationary & e-mobility)”, organized by the EMIRI-Energy Materials Industrial Research Initiative over a half-day session. The objective of this event was to conduct a shared analysis of technology, key players, markets and European policies from an advanced materials perspective. Here, six selected speakers from different organizations set out their points of view. One of them was Dr. Oscar Miguel Crespo, Head of Business Development in Energy Storage of CIDETEC, acting on behalf of EGVIA, the European Green Vehicles Industrial Association, where he presented the general objectives and positioning of this association in the Scope of electromobility. It is worth mentioning that CIDETEC is an active participant in both EGVIA and EMIRI industrial associations.
After the lunch break, the “European Workshop on Nanotechnologies & Advanced Materials for Batteries” took place, co-organized among others by the consortium of the MAT4BAT project of which CIDETEC forms part, an event that also counts on the support of EMIRI itself and the European Commission. During this one-and-a-half-day workshop, different European-wide research initiatives were presented on the subject, with the objective of identifying the main milestones achieved so far, priorities for the future and, ultimately, to analyze the bases for the possible creation of a technological cluster on battery materials.
Idoia Urdampilleta, head of the CIDETEC Energy Materials Unit, presented the latest advances in the European MARS-EV project, which she coordinates. The participation of CIDETEC in the event came to a close following the presentations of projects such as the aforementioned MAT4BAT or SPICY, of which CIDETEC is also a prominent member.
