CIDETEC Technological Centre and POLYMAT Fundazioa, the Basque Centre for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, sign a collaboration agreement

A collaboration agreement was signed on 10 November by José M. Asua, director of POLYMAT Fundazioa, the Basque Centre for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, and Francisco Javier Rodríguez, general director of CIDETEC technological centre, to promote a collaborative framework to strengthen relations between both organisations and establish guidelines to increase their collaboration in terms of training, research, innovation as well as transfer and dissemination of knowledge.

The main goal behind this signed framework agreement is collaborative research and innovation, promoting both national and international joint research programmes in fields like energy, biomaterials and corrosion.

The agreement provides for the sharing of infrastructures and equipment between centres as well as the effective exchange of research capabilities and materials. It also includes the organisation of joint sessions, seminars and conferences in order to foster and disseminate innovation. Likewise, the agreement includes the promotion of the exchange of research staff in order to create joint multidisciplinary teams who will work in developing projects, training internationally renowned researcher staff and creating platforms that enhance the potential for attracting talent.

Convinced that research, technological development and innovation are together one of the main driving forces behind economic growth, and aware of the need to strengthen collaboration to increase effectiveness and efficiency, both organisations expect that this agreement will bring important technological and economic benefits. However, the main beneficiaries of the agreement will be the companies in their sector, ultimately the recipients of the resulting innovation and developments. The knowledge and technological solutions that result from this collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to increasing the innovative and competitive capacities of the industry.

POLYMAT is a research institute that provides support to the industrial sector through a multidisciplinary research programme in polymers. CIDETEC is a technological centre specialises in generating and transferring knowledge and technology in the fields of polymer materials, surface treatments and energy storage. Both organisations are based in San Sebastian.
