CIDETEC participates in the European project SEALANT which seeks ecological alternatives for the aerospace industry

Corporativo

CIDETEC is part of the consortium that is developing the SEALANT project, ‘Optimisation by experimental design and industrial-scale expansion of the sealing process in anodizing treatments in sulfuric acid’, within the Clean Sky 2 program.

The aeronautical industry faces the challenge of replacing chemicals that have a potential impact on the environment and on the health of the workers who handle it. The project is part of the European Program Clean Sky 2 which seeks to improve the environmental impact of aeronautical technologies.
Specifically, new products for sealing in anodizing treatments in sulfuric acid as robust alternatives to chromic anodizing (AAC), will be investigated. AAC has been used for decades in the aerospace industry due to its excellent performance, but considered potentially harmful by European regulations regarding the use of chemical products
Another of the objectives of the project is to optimize the economic cost and environmental impact of the sealing process, thereby complying with the stringent regulatory standards and the regulations of the European Union REACH (European Union Regulation Concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & Restriction of Chemicals). The challenge is in finding robust technology solutions without compromising performance and product quality.
The consortium is led by the Andalusian company Titania and in addition to CIDETEC, the following entities also form part of the consortium: The University of Cádiz (UCA), the Technological Centre of Miranda de Ebro (CTME) and INNOMAT Coatings.
