CIDETEC and AIMPLAS present the latest developments in advanced composites for the automotive industry

The seminar on Advanced Composites for the Automotive sector, organized by CIDETEC and AIMPLAS technology centres, brought together leading industry experts at the Science Museum of San Sebastian.
CIDETEC and AIMPLAS held a technical conference on June 16 at the Museum of Science Eureka! In Donostia – San Sebastián, which brought together around 100 professionals who discussed the opportunities that the new composites offer in the automotive sector.

Some of the leading experts in the field spoke of the latest news and developments in the field of composites and the opportunities open to these materials regarding their application in the automotive and transportation sectors.
Ibon Odriozola presented K4-CIDETEC’s new technology regarding composite material of multisectorial epoxy resin impact and the 3 Rs (Reprocessable, Recyclable and Repairable). Meanwhile Eva Verdejo, of AIMPLAS, spoke of reducing carbon footprint through the use of advanced composites.

Representatives of reference entities such as Mariskone, Polyone, Robert Bosch, FIDAMC, Sabic, Saertex and Fraunhofer ICT, addressed the issue from different perspectives to complete an overview of the current state and future of the automobile sector in connection with applications made of advanced composites. This included a reference to the opportunities of 3D carbon fiber printing by Antonio Miravete, scientific coordinator of SISPRA, who participated via videoconference from the MIT.
