Aroa Ramos Mainar, researcher at CIDETEC Energy Storage, has been recognised as one of the rising stars in the third edition of the BRTA Awards, held on 26 May at the Orconera-Lutxana Industria Bilduma in Barakaldo.
BRTA – Basque Research & Technology Alliance – has awarded three senior researchers for their outstanding career paths and three young professionals for their promising research trajectories.
The ceremony was presided over by Lehendakari Imanol Pradales, alongside Mikel Jauregi, Minister of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability and President of BRTA; Rikardo Bueno, BRTA’s Director General; Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias, Minister of Science, Universities and Innovation; and Urkiri Salaberria, Director of Cultural Heritage.
In the Research Potential category, Aroa Ramos Mainar was awarded for her exceptional emerging career in the field of energy storage.
“My research supports energy sustainability by facilitating the transition to renewable sources and reducing dependency on critical materials. For the industry, it offers more efficient and cost-effective solutions, generates new business opportunities, and helps comply with increasingly demanding environmental regulations,” Ramos stated after receiving the award.
Her work stands at the crossroads between high-impact scientific research and industrial application, actively contributing to the challenges of the energy transition.
Alongside Ramos, Irune Aguirre (Ikerlan) and Nerea Aranjuelo (Vicomtech) were also recognised in the same category. In the Lifetime Achievement category, awards were granted to Igone Vélez (CEIT), Maurizio Prato (CIC biomaGUNE), and Montserrat Casas (CIC energiGUNE).
