ERAGIN

The project:

ERAGIN arises with the objective of fully designing and developing in the Basque Country a high-performance linear electromechanical actuator with maximum efficiency, thermal stability and reliability throughout its entire lifecycle, capable of addressing all technological needs of the aeronautical sector.

The project aims to maintain competitiveness without significantly increasing costs and will culminate in a complete prototype of a linear electromechanical actuator with a ball screw. ZUAZO will develop the screw and the complete actuator, EGILE will manufacture the cooling jacket and the deflector using additive manufacturing, and EIPC will produce the aluminium housing through investment casting.

To achieve the project’s objective, four technological lines (TL) have been defined, focusing on the manufacturing and post-processing of four key components of the linear electromechanical actuator: TL1: Inspection technology for the screw without risk of embrittlement, TL2: Design and development of the deflector using Additive Manufacturing and metallic coatings, TL3: Design and development of the cooling jacket using Additive Manufacturing and post-processing, TL4: Manufacturing technology and electrophoretic coating treatment of the housing.

CIDETEC’S role in the project:

CIDETEC Surface Engineering is participating by developing advanced surface treatment and inspection technologies to improve the functionality and reliability of the components. CIDETEC is actively involved in Work Package 3 (Development of surface treatments to improve component functionality) and Work Package 4 (Scaling up and validation of components and the linear electromechanical actuator as a whole).
